Poison Cocktail Academy.

Glasgow's first all female cocktail academy!

Jenny Clark and Vickie Provan are now running
Poison Cocktail Academy.

This is open to all females in Glasgow who are looking to learn a new skill and expand their career opportunities within the drinks trade.

The academy takes place once a month and concentrates on a different spirit or product each month.

August saw the participants tasting different styles of rum and appreciating the mixability of rum before being shown classic rum cocktails.

In September Jamie MacDonald intorduced the participants to
Grand Marnier. After the history of Grand Marnier explained and the product tasted the girls were able to create their own twists on cocktails demonstrated by jamie.

Cocktails created include Jo's winning Grand Mango martini with Grand Marnier, Havana rum, peach bitters and mango juice.

We also saw the creation of a raspberry grand slam, a  grand berry mojito and a passion fruit martini. More details on these drinks can be found in our sample cocktail list.

Sam Kershaw hosted Octobers training on Gin in Ivy, Glasgow. The participants were taught about the history and origins of gin as well as its mixability. Sam demonstrated some classic martinis and a twist on a martini using marachino liquer and redcurrant gin.

Cocktail creation is a big part of the academy. All participants get the chance to put their ideas into action and work on their own creations with the spirit of the month.

The next cocktail academy is in November 2007 if you'd like to join us please e mail your details to vickie@petiteandelite.co.uk
